Boyd Carter

After finishing his schooling in Berkshire, Boyd studied at what is now Nottingham Law School and after taking the Solicitors Final Examinations at the College of Law in London, he completed his legal training in Bromley, Kent, qualifying as a solicitor in 1994. 
 
Boyd has practiced in criminal law, family law and civil and commercial dispute resolution, appearing as an advocate for clients in the Magistrates' Courts, County Courts and the High Court.
 
He moved to Braintree in 1998 and was, until April 2008, a Partner in a well established local firm of solicitors where, in addition to being responsible for the management of business continuity and risk, anti-money laundering, health & safety, professional indemnity and that firm's LSC Franchise in Family Law, he specialised in representing parties, including children, in family law cases and civil disputes, including complex personal injury and business disputes.
 
In 2008 Boyd set up his own firm, specialising in children and family law cases as well as in civil and commercial mediation.
 
As a result of his Courtroom experience, Boyd is a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil), having been granted the right by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to conduct advocacy in cases in all civil courts.
 
Boyd is a trained Civil and Commercial Mediator in the Harvard Business School method of principled negotiation accredited by ADR Chambers UK.
 
His interests and hobbies include his family, films, cars and music.

Cafcass, the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, looks after the interests of children involved in family proceedings. They work with children and their families and then advise the courts on what they consider to be in the best interests of individual children. The Cafcass website contains lots of useful information and leaflets about parents separating, Contact and about Care proceedings. There are even some leaflets especially prepared for children to understand.
